Athletic Education B.S.

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Education. This program will empower you to be a dynamic, active individual in your community, one who is focused on the overall health and well-being of those around you. Our program blends human anatomy with pedagogy and practical field experience. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared to teach K-12. 

This program is flexible so you can do what interests you the most, and while you're here, you'll learn about care and prevention, nutrition and diet, biomechanics, applied fitness concepts and strength and conditioning, among others. Through our program, you'll be prepared for a rewarding and challenging career as an educator and will have the opportunity to change lives for the better through a solid foundation of all that you've learned.

Career Opportunities

In the program, students receive valuable hands-on experience teaching peers and local students.

  • Teaching physical education for early childhood through 12th grade
  • Team coaching or private lessons
  • Community fitness
  • Private counseling
  • Sport scout
  • Sport psychology*
  • Becoming an instructor*
  • Athletic coordinator* and/or athletic director*

Obtaining this degree offers many career opportunities and also is a pathway to graduate-level studies.
