Cathryn Cummings is a passionate and experienced instructor who brings artistry and excellence to the classroom. She has served as Horn Instructor at The University of Rhode Island, Westfield State University (MA) and The Hartt School Community Division (CT), where she also taught chamber music. She is an active private lesson and masterclass teacher throughout the Houston area. 

She served for ten years in the United States Navy Music Program, with which she performed at hundreds of military ceremonies, including those for Presidents and international dignitaries. Cummings’s performances with the Navy Band include appearances with the Boston Pops, at Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium, and on The Today Show.

Cummings is Principal Horn and Executive Director of the Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra (HICO), which dedicates itself to presenting the music of our time. She has held the positions of Principal and Second Horn with the Albany (GA) Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the Albany (NY), Berkshire, Greater Bridgeport, Cape Cod, Catskill, Hartford, Jacksonville, New Bedford, Schenectady, Southwest Florida, Southeast Texas, and Wallingford Symphonies. Cummings has performed as a soloist with the Brazosport Symphony Orchestra and HICO, and has presented at the Northeast Horn Workshop and the International Horn Symposium. Most recently, she participated in the inaugural Northern California Alphorn Festival at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.
